Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20 1964. She is an American politician. She is the first woman to be elected vice president and she is also the highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. A part of the Democratic Party, she previously was the attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017 and also as an United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Later she became the City Attorney of San Francisco. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. She was elected Attorney General of California in 2010 and she was re-elected in 2014. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman to serve in the Congress, and the first South Asian American American to serve in the United States Senate. As a senator , she supported health reform, federal descholaring of cannabis, a pathway for undocumented immigrants to become citizens, the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. She gained a national profile for her provocative questioning of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings, which included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and was accused of sexual assault.
