Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United States. In 2001, she launched The Corcoran Group in New York City. The company was sold to the brokerage to NRT for $66 million. Then, shortly after she resigned from the business. Corcoran has been a part of 12 episodes of ABC's Shark Tank seasons. She has participated in 53 deals since February, 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will cover 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the second child of 10 from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's early years. Sometimes, the family relied on deliveries of free food from a friendly local grocer. Corcoran says her father was a drunken man who treated her mother with disrespectful and condescension. Corcoran was a struggling student in school. Corcoran later found out that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended an Catholic elementary school in her neighborhood and started high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after having failed several classes during her first year.
